Summer flute practice: accountability and motivation - who are they?
Tell me if this sounds familiar:
You play the flute. For school, or for band, or just for fun. Summer rolls around…I call that the “off season”. Rehearsals slow down, there’s no class, no structure, the world is your oyster. You can do as many creative things and practice as much as you want and whenever you want. It’s great.
Suddenly it’s the middle of August, and that entire summer was spent thinking about all the stuff you can get done in your free or more flexible time.
Whoops.
Now you may be scrambling.
(Sorry to break it to you - you can’t cram-practice, it doesn’t work like that.)
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. This time during the summer months can seem very nebulous (wibbly wobbly) with motivation, and catch up with you rather quickly without a little bit of accountability. I have been through this A LOT even though I know that maintaining skill requires consistent practice.
That’s why I put together the Got Flute? Summertime Flute Studio - for that accountability and motivational structure that is sometimes needed during the summer months.
I’m offering you something that I wanted back when I really needed it.
This 6 week program takes place July 6th to August 16th, it’s entirely virtual (you can participate from anywhere), with personalized instruction, goal setting, and consistent accountability check-ins tailored to you (so you set the tone), and we can help you progress and your skills thrive through the summer.
Whether you’re working on tone, starting new repertoire, preparing for an audition, want a refresh to your practice strategies, or just want to try something new, we can work together to help you stay inspired.
What’s included?
6 private lessons
weekly 1 hour drop in community space for questions, discussion, practicing (like co-working or body doubling) - not mandatory, but totally encouraged
my personal practice planner template
my practice journal reflections prompts (access to updates during the program and for up to 1 month after)
access to my flute resources hub - there’s lots, but includes made-for-you exercises
access to me via email for anything that comes up between sessions
optional guidance and feedback in the remaining two weeks of August after the end of the program
For participating in this program, you can receive 50% off of your first month of lessons if you choose to enrol in my studio with a commitment of 3 months after the end of the program (September 2026 start)
Now I know the summer is the prime time to rest and recharge - I am all about resting and recharging as humans, which is why I like to cultivate a shame-free, encouraging, and inspiring environment. We are musicians (no matter the skill level), but we are humans first. You set the tone on what you’d like to accomplish, and how much accountability you need - if you want to be reigned in a little bit, or need a relaxed space, that is up to you.
But if you find yourself floating along in the summers wanting to practice either maintaining your skill, wanting to improve, working towards something, trying something new, or trying out a new project you’ve never had the time for - get in touch, because Got Flute? Summertime Flute Studio is a place for that, and might be a good fit for you!
